After many years of visiting Nepal and organising running events for the benefit of Nepalese Long Distance Runners; the time has come to set up a Running Academy to raise funds to properly train and support gifted and dedicated Nepalese Long Distance Runners. This will start as a NGO with the view to making it a full registered charity. We hope to make it possible to send runners to International Events to compete on equal terms with other Nations. In order to do this we would like to get qualified trainers to go to Nepal to help us get these naturally gifted runners trained.
We sent a village policeman to the London marathon for his first ever marathon. He did not understand the nature of drinks stations and so did not drink. He had never run on a road before and thought it was a bit too smooth. He ran in plimsoles. He came 71st in 2 hours and 21 minutes.
The story of the rise of Nepalese runners coming to the fore has yet to be written and we seek the support of runners around the World to help us write it.
